 Pre-exam tips to boost your performance

Get enough sleep

Improving you sleep quality will make you feel more energised, stimulated, and motivated. It will put you in an ideal mental state to ace your exams.

Try to have an early night and to wake up at least 2-hours before your exam is due to start. This help you arrive at the exam hall feeling refreshed.

Get everything ready the night before

Depending on the subject and nature of your exam, different accessories may be required. For example, Maths requires pencils, a calculator, and other bits and pieces.

Don’t leave it until the last minute to get your things ready! This is definitely something that needs to be done the night before.

Avoid big meals and stimulants

Overeating the day before an exam can make you feel sluggish and lazy, and also make it more difficult to get to sleep. A lot of students also skip breakfast but this is essential on exam day as it gets your brain into action mode.

You should avoid stimulants, such as energy drinks pre-exam, as these will make you rush to the toilet and waste precious exam time! Instead, regularly drink water before and during your exam to keep hydrated.

Take some time to relax

During the day before your exam, you should carry on with your revision plan, school timetable or taking exams as already planned out; however, the night before should be all about rest and relaxation.

You might want to cast your eye gently over your revision notes, but hard-core brain work should not be your emphasis. Instead, relax in your favourite way, whether that’s watching TV, going for a walk, or having a bubble bath and painting your toe nails!
